You don't need any special software to publish on FreeLibrary.ai. If your book is finished, or you have the first chapters of a serial, you can have it on the shelves today. Here's how.
1. Create a free account
Use the Sign in link at the top of any page and create an account. Readers will see your pen name, never your account details, and you can publish under more than one pen name without them being linked.
2. Upload your manuscript
Go to Publish your book and choose your file: a Word document (.docx), an EPUB, or plain text.
FreeLibrary.ai splits it into chapters for you. Lines like "Chapter 1" or Word headings start a new chapter, and EPUBs keep their own chapters. Anything that isn't story, such as a title page, a table of contents or notes before Chapter 1, is left out unless you choose to include it.
3. Tell readers about the book
Add a title, your pen name, a genre and a blurb. You can also add:
- a cover, resized for you, with hidden photo data removed
- up to 10 tags, like enemies to lovers, slow burn or fae, so readers can find it
- its status: ongoing, completed or on hiatus
- its heat level: sweet, warm or steamy (the Library welcomes steamy, but not explicit scenes)
4. Say how AI helped
Choose the label that fits best: AI-assisted, co-written with AI, or AI-generated and author-directed. It's shown on your book, proudly.
5. Publishing a serial? Schedule your chapters
Upload the whole book and choose On a schedule: for example, three chapters now and then one every Friday at 9:00. Readers see when the next chapter arrives, and new chapters are marked New when they go live.
Kindle Unlimited authors
If your book is in KDP Select, you can still share it here: tick Sample only and add the link to buy the book. FreeLibrary.ai then publishes up to 10% of the book, which is what Kindle Unlimited allows, and readers get a button to buy the rest.
After you publish
Your book gets its own page, and you get an author page with your picture, bio and links. You can post updates for your followers, reply to reviews, and see how your book is doing on its Stats page: views, readers, and how far people get, chapter by chapter.
