Lantern's Last Picture
On her last night shift before the desert dish she runs is sold off, Teddy Vance picks up a whisper from Lantern, a deep-space probe declared dead three years ago. Her late mother spent her life on that probe, and before they stopped speaking she hid one last command inside it. Now Lantern is sending a single picture home from the edge of the solar system, slowly, and Teddy has a day and a half to catch it before the dish belongs to someone else.
