The Night Route
Darla Kincaid has driven the county's night bus through the Ozark hills for eight years without running a minute late. Then, on a rainy March night, her headlights catch a girl in a soaked yellow dress standing where a stop was removed in 1987. She pays with a token nobody has used in decades and asks only one thing: "Is this the one that stops?" Every night she asks to go one stop further, and every night the route on Darla's screen runs a little closer to the lake that drowned a town.
